La chanteuse de R&B Cassandra Ventura, alias Cassie, voit le jour le 26 août 1986 à New London dans le Connecticut aux Etats-Unis. Après avoir fait ses études secondaires, elle fait la rencontre du producteur et chanteur Ryan Leslie. Ensemble ils enregistrent un premier titre, qu'ils présentent à Tommy Mottola. Sous le charme, l'ancien PDG de Sony décide de donner sa chance à la jeune femme et devient son manager. Elle signe son premier album éponyme sur le label de Diddy et ne tarde pas à se faire un prénom.

Auteur, compositeur et interprète, Shaffer C. Smith, alias Ne-Yo, voit le jour en 1984. Il grandit au sein d'une famille de musicien dans l'état de l'Arkansas aux Etats-Unis. Très rapidement il se met à la composition de titres et collabore avec de nombreux artistes tels que Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, B2K et Musiq. C'est à lui que l'on doit, entre autres, le titre Let Me Love You du chanteur R&B Mario, véritable carton au moment de sa sortie. En 2006 il s'investit davantage dans sa carrière et livre son premier album, In My Own Words. Là encore, le succès est au rendez-vous.
